Enhance Your Listening and Communication Skills
Going above and beyond the hearing aid!
While treating hearing loss with hearing aids is effective, hearing aid use only makes up one part of a successful hearing healthcare plan. An effective hearing healthcare plan should include counselling from your audiologist, consistent hearing aid use, and aural rehabilitation.
We hear with our ears; however we understand what we hear with our brain. Hearing aids can help a person detect softer sounds, but they don’t necessarily provide good listening skills. Even people with normal hearing can be poor listeners. Good listening skills are essential for effective communication.
AURAL REHABILITATION
WHAT IS IT?
Aural rehabilitation is the process of identifying and diagnosing a hearing loss and providing different types of therapies and amplification devices to clients with hearing loss.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Aural rehabilitation has been proven to enhance one's quality of life and reduce one's perception of hearing difficulties through counselling and education on effective listening skills, communication strategies and use of amplification devices such as hearing aids.
